ELIXIR Bass String
Elixir is an electric bass string built with nickel-plated steel wire wrap. The ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating provides a smooth, natural feel and also increases grip.
Patented coating technology that protects against corrosion, in general, extends longer tone life on the strings.
Elixir’s new Stainless Steel bass range offers a bright tone coupled with the excellent long-life characteristics of their Nanoweb coating, making them ideal for those looking for more top end output than the Nickel range. Good flexibility and responsiveness, plus the coating give them a smooth surface not usually found on Stainless Steel sets.
The strings are sleeved in an ultra-fine coating to protect from corrosion. Nanowebs sound good for 3 to 5 times as long as conventional strings. The fine coating is designed to retain the tone, attack, and feel of conventional strings.
Popular players such as John Paul Jones, Nate Watts, Yolanda Charles, and Henrik Linder use elixir and always look perfect in every appearance. Elixir-coated strings have enough layers to reduce the effect. The choice of nickel as a substitute for bronze coil also helps, but you don’t end up with the warm yet soft sound you get from half a round or a flat turn.
If you are a bass player with the type playing hard or having a nickel fret this string is perfect for you. Use with Stainless jumbo frets to get the best tones. Some of our experts try with Aria Pro II fret and get bright, expressive and even harmonious results. Check out Hadrien Feraud’s Warm-up exercise using Elixir Bass String in the video below.
